A Special Time for Special Relationships

Christmas is for many overwhelming and stressful, presents and food to be bought, family gatherings to be arranged. It is therefore a time when relationships are foremost on their minds. But for some, it is a time of deception, when the printed words of peace and love are in direct opposition to what they really feel inside.

“At this time of year, any relationships that are under strain may totally split asunder. As families gather together old animosities and rivalries can bubble to the surface. The mature approach is to just let them go but it is not easy. It takes two people to have a disagreement. If one of them (you) decides that life is too short and makes a personal commitment to let the real happiness and peace that is Christmas become a reality, then there is no argument. There is no point in winning a series of battles if you can simply end the war”.

Now is the time to review relationships at home, work, and in a social environment, to create a strategy for repairing any relationships that are suspect and terminating those that are beyond repair. It takes inner strength to make the decisions and the commitment. Even small achievements can create their motivation. “If you use your energy to perpetuate a feeling of grudge, envy or hurt, then you are using energy that could, and should be directed to more positive things – like building yourself the life that you truly desire”.

When repairing relationships there is no blame, no right and no wrong. There is simply an outcome or result that arises from an action. If you can learn the actions that create harmony and peace, then the joy of Christmas really will, as the cards say, stay with you throughout the rest of the year. If you want to change somebody else the only place you can begin is with changing yourself. And, the only time you can start is right now”.

The Crystallization of Desire Into Action

We have learned that thoughts are things and we bring them into physical form. It starts with us having a DESIRE. In this chapter Mr. Hill tells us the method or recipe of ORGANIZED PLANNING. It began with the instructions given in chapter 2.

The 6 steps of the instructions are:

  • First. Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is important to have a clear goal.
  • Second. Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. There is no such reality as   “something for nothing”.
  • Third. Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire. Without this step, it could take the rest of your life or longer.
  • Fourth. Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.
This step is the ORGANIZED PLANNING.
Mr. Hill’s recipe is: Take DESIRE (the first step toward riches) and hand it over to your IMAGINATION (the 5th step toward riches, the workshop of the mind) to create plans to reach the DESIRE. Take the PLAN and create a MASTERMIND that is appropriately motivated and that meets frequently to work on the plan.
  • Fifth. Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it. In other words, write the first 4 steps down.
  • Sixth. Read your written statement out loud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning.
This becomes your self-talk or AUTO-SUGGESTION to your SUBCONSCIOUS which automatically attaches memories (SYNTHETIC IMAGINATION) or, will search the ether for thoughts (through CREATIVE IMAGINATION and THE SIXTH SENSE) of other THOUGHTS that will cause actions for the requested DESIRE to become known to you. The subconscious has no other choice than to do what you tell it to do. As you read what you have written, see and feel and believe yourself already in possession of the money. Also make sure to attach the positive emotions, assuming you are after a positive outcome.
Mr. Hill says that these steps are the most important to reach the goal of the PLAN. You must work with others that are interested in seeing the plan come to fruition. Your mastermind group need not be large. It could be one other person. The point is that together, you create a third collective mind that is capable of trouble-shooting the plan. They have different life experiences form you. Perhaps they’ve tried what you are doing before and are able to shortcut or emphasize on steps that should be taken. They also have their own pool of other people they can call on if you both reach a place of unknown for the both of you.
If and when you come upon failure or TEMPORARY DEFEAT, the plans should be examined and reworked with the mastermind. PERSISTENCE (the 8th step toward riches) should be applied to power FAITH (the 2nd step toward riches) in the DESIRE and use the recipe in step 4 again. Repeat as needed and never give up. Thus the steps in chapter 2 ultimately craft the auto-suggestion and the reason for the mastermind to be.
“Some people foolishly believe that only MONEY can make money. This is not true! DESIRE, transmuted into its monetary equivalent, through the principles laid down here, is the agency through which money is “made.” Money, of itself, is nothing but inert matter. It cannot move, think, or talk, but it can “hear” when a man who DESIRES it, calls it to come!” – Napoleon Hill.

Building Real Abundance

How soon will you realize that the only thing you don’t have is the direct experience that there’s nothing you need that you don’t have?" --Ken Keyes, Jr., Handbook to Higher Consciousness

Too often we believe that if we had "a little more of this" or "a little more of that," our lives would be better. But would they really? Real abundance comes not from without, but from deep within. Recognizing that we are already rich—rich in spirit—is where genuine abundance dwells.

A Course in Miracles teaches us that whenever we are looking outside ourselves for anything, we will only feel more incomplete. This is referred to as "the scarcity principle" which is based upon the common belief that somehow we are incomplete and not whole just the way we are.

And in order to fill this "hole," our insidious ego believes it must grab onto certain things and hold on for dear life: people, resources, recognition, approval, and so forth. This leads us to taking action under the ego’s direction. But since the action is based on superficial intention, it produces insignificant results leading to an even greater sense of lack.

The ego’s doctrine is "seek but do not find," a perfect example of how glutinous the ego is and how futile its’ endless chase for seeking outside one’s self. This scenario reminds me of a book I once bought for my daughter when she was a very young girl called the "Greedy Python." The python was so greedy that he ate everything in sight, including his own tail, which inevitably led to eating himself!

Abundance, on the other hand, is the love inside of us—that infinite wellspring where our fulfillment and peace of mind exists; the source of love within us where our genuine inspiration lives; the channel that allows our creativity to burst forth and our love to pour outward. It’s not what we do or create that matters as much as the intention behind it.

For example, when I’m writing or painting I feel like I’m on "overflow" because joy and contentment bubble up from deep within. The finished article or painting is rewarding, but that’s not from where my real gratification comes.

My creation is only an effect of my true creative source; it’s merely the results of the heartfelt energy I’m extending. It’s the expression of my love and creative inspiration that fulfills me. That’s why giving and receiving are the same.

Diane Berke, author of The Gentle Smile: Practicing Oneness in Everyday Life, states, "Giving and receiving are complementary aspects of a single movement, a single process, like breathing in and breathing out."

Whenever you are giving a part of yourself via a creative endeavor, discussion with your child, business accomplishment or anything else, you are also the receiver of your energy. Since we are all one, whatever you give to another, you are by definition, giving to yourself.

In Buddhism being compassionately generous to all people is the basis for living a genuine and fulfilling spiritual life. In this same spirit of wisdom, the Buddhist teachings remind us that all of our suffering occurs from having an attachment to something outside ourselves.

These "somethings" are what keeps us on the "wheel of suffering," the merry-go-round of external attachments that all human beings must come to terms with during their evolutionary journey. As we practice giving we are reminded that we need nothing outside ourselves, that everything we will ever need is already within.

Some practical ways to build real abundance in your life include:

1. Increase your willingness to give. A Course in Miracles teaches us, "Give a little more than you think you can, a little more than you feel comfortable with." The key here, is "a little more."

Throughout each day we have numerous opportunities to give, and we grow in abundance as we act on those opportunities. Just a little stretch is all that’s required in order for us to experience a sense of true giving.

2. Keep your intentions pure. Remember that you are always the giver and receiver. Most people unconsciously give to get something in return: appreciation, recognition, payment, etc. Be willing to give to others in a way that you would want to be given to.

Before you give, ask yourself, What am I doing this for?" If the answer is "Because I want to give, just to give, and I expect nothing in return," and you mean it, then trust that your intention is pure of heart.

3. Practice receiving with graciousness. So many times, we discount compliments or refuse to receive what another wants to give. Low self-worth convinces us we don’t deserve the compliment or gift, or distrust tells us that if we receive something, we’ll be obligated.

It’s important to remember that you cannot truly give if you’re unwilling to receive, for they compliment each other like a hand and glove. All of us are connected with every living thing and our interdependence is the sacred web of life we exist within.

4. Give in those situations where you feel the most lack. In what area of your life do you feel the most scarcity? For some it’s money, recognition or approval, for others it’s time, and still for others it is love, affection or companionship. Determine where you feel the greatest lack then allow it to come fully into your awareness.

These areas are your greatest opportunities for practicing abundance because the place you most need to give is the area in which you are feeling the most lack. The initial reaction, of course, is to grab on even harder and faster, but that will only take you further into the quicksand of emptiness. Ask Spirit for guidance, then be willing to give.

The results are truly miraculous. As you begin giving in situations where you once felt lack, your giving will fill you up until there’s no more room for anything but a sense of completion and abundance. Be gentle with yourself and validate yourself for reaching out instead of pulling back.

Two Forms of Imagination

The imaginative faculty functions in two forms. One is known as “synthetic imagination,” and the other as “creative imagination.”
Synthetic Imagination:- Through this faculty, one may arrange old concepts, ideas, or plans into new combinations. This faculty creates nothing. It merely works with the material of experience, education, and observation with which it is fed. It is the faculty used most by the inventor, with the exception of the who draws upon the creative imagination, when he cannot solve his problem through synthetic imagination.
Creative Imagination:-Through the faculty of creative imagination, the finite mind of man has direct communication with Infinite Intelligence. It is the faculty through which “hunches” and “inspirations” are received. It is by this faculty that all basic, or new ideas are handed over to man.
It is through this faculty that thought vibrations from the minds of others are received. It is through this faculty that one individual may “tune in,” or communicate with the subconscious minds of other men.
The creative imagination works automatically, in the manner described in subsequent pages. This faculty functions ONLY when the conscious mind is vibrating at an exceedingly rapid rate, as for example, when the conscious mind is stimulated through the emotion of a strong desire.
The creative faculty becomes more alert, more receptive to vibrations from the sources mentioned, in proportion to its development through USE. This statement is significant! Ponder over it before passing on.
The great leaders of business, industry, finance, and the great artists, musicians, poets, and writers became great, because they developed the faculty of creative imagination.
Both the synthetic and creative faculties of imagination become more alert with use, just as any muscle or organ of the body develops through use.
Desire is only a thought, an impulse. It is nebulous and ephemeral. It is abstract. and of no value, until it has been transformed into its physical counterpart. While the synthetic imagination is the one which will be used most frequently, in the process of transforming the impulse of DESIRE into money, you must keep in mind the fact, that you may face circumstances and situations which demand use of the creative imagination as well.
Your imagination faculty may have become weak through inaction. It can be revived and made alert through USE. This faculty does not die, though it may become quiescent through lack of use. Center your attention for the time being on the development of the synthetic imagination, because this is the faculty which you will use more often in the process of converting desire into money.
Transformation of the intangible impulse of DESIRE into the tangible reality of MONEY calls for the use of a plan or plans. These plans must be formed with the aid of imagination and mainly, with the synthetic faculty.

Year End Review

Some American motivational speakers have a phrase. They refer to their ‘warm fuzzy file’. This may seem a trifle unacceptable to our ears, but the philosophy behind it is certainly sound.

It seems to be human nature to dwell on mistakes and the negative aspects of life. This is really sad because we all, without exception, have some achievements that are worth rewarding ourselves for.

Create a strategy for getting to where you want to be and define the actions that will produce the desired results.  Even small achievements can create the motivation to raise personal goal posts and to aim higher.

It seems to be a natural reaction to focus on what you have not done rather on what you have done. This is enough to prevent some people from even attempting anything new if it is allowed to pass unchallenged.

What is a warm, fuzzy file.? This is simply a list of all the good things that you have done since you last did a personal review. These may be as simple as having a daily ‘To Do’ list and then actually doing everything that is on it. They can be as simple as spending some time with someone who is lonely – or smiling at a shop assistant.  This does not exclude the big things too, but if you focus on these it is all too easy to lose sight of hose little things that make a big difference to someone else.

As this years draws to a close, now is the ideal time to undertake your own warm fuzzy list. You will be surprised how helpful it can be when you are having a day when things seem to be out of kilter. If you maintain your list regularly you will be amazed at what you have achieved and this will spur you on to do even more”.

The Power of Imagination

Imagination is the ability to form a mental image of something that is not perceived through the five senses. It is the ability of the mind to build mental scenes, objects or events that do not exist, are not present, or have happened in the past.
Everyone possesses a certain of imagination ability. In some, it is highly developed, and in others, it manifests in a weaker form. Imagination manifests in various degrees in various people.
Imagination makes it possible to experience a whole world inside the mind. It gives the ability to look at any situation from a different point of view, and to mentally explore the past and the future.
This ability manifests in various forms, one of which is daydreaming. Though too much idle daydreaming may make one impractical, a certain degree daydreaming, while not being engaged in something that requires attention, provides temporary happiness, calmness and relief from stress.
In your imagination, you can travel anywhere in the speed of light, without any obstacles. It can make you feel free, though temporarily, and only in the mind, from tasks, difficulties and unpleasant circumstances.
Imagination is not limited only to seeing pictures in the mind. It includes all the five senses and the feelings. One can imagine a sound, taste, smell, a physical sensation or a feeling or emotion. For some people it is easier to see mental pictures, others find it easier to imagine a feeling, and some are more comfortable imagining the sensation of one of the five senses. Training of the imagination gives the ability to combine all the senses.
A developed and strong imagination does not make you a daydreamer and impractical. On the contrary, it strengthens your creative abilities, and is a great tool for recreating and remodeling your world and life.
This is a great power that can change your whole life. It is used extensively in magic, creative visualization and affirmations. It is the creator of circumstances and events. When you know how to work with it, you can make your hearts' desires come true.
Imagination has a great role and value in each one's life. It is much more than just idle daydreaming. We all use it, whether consciously or unconsciously, in most of our daily affairs. We use our imagination whenever we plan a party, a trip, our work or a meeting. We use it when we describe an event, explain how to arrive to a certain street, write, tell a story or cook a cake.
Imagination is a creative power that is necessary for inventing an instrument, designing a dress or a house, painting a picture or writing a book. The creative power of imagination has an important role in the achievement of success in any field. What we imagine with faith and feelings comes into being. It is the important ingredient of creative visualization, positive thinking and affirmations.
Visualizing an object or a situation, and repeating often this mental image, attracts the object or situation we visualize into our lives. This opens for us new, vast and fascinating opportunities.
This means that we should think only in a positive manner about our desires, otherwise, we might attract into our lives events, situations and people that we don't really want. This is actually what most of us do, because we don't use the power of imagination correctly.

Are You Negative or Positive?

A negative mind will never give you a positive life.
Every day we are bombarded by media, family, friends, experiences that shape our mind unknowingly to be negative. It then becomes a cycle where negative thoughts reinforce negative emotions, which in turn produces negative actions. Which affects others negatively and continues the cycle. If the cycle is not broken, and left to run uninterrupted, it inevitably has a detrimental effect on our ability to receive and perform positive actions and succeed.
The key to avoiding this negative thoughts is to understand what initiates the cycle. Once mindful of the triggers, people can train themselves to avoid it, overcome it, or stop it before it does any harm.

Some keys to keeping a positive mind

Don’t take other people’s negativity personally.
Spend more time with positive people.
Change the way you think.
Focus on solutions.
Love whoever is around to be loved.
Realize that life is a series of ups and downs.
Concentrate on today.
Let go and move on when you must.

Keeping positive

Dare

“In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.” – Michael Jackson

Eliminate Limitations to Ensure Success

If you lead an active outdoor life you will think of the September dusk as coming too early and making your evenings shorter. If you spend much of your time indoors you will see them as longer evenings. The hours of darkness are the same for everyone. It is only your perception of them that is different.

No two people see the world in exactly the same way. The art of achieving success in life is to ensure that you see every challenge or opportunity in its most positive light – and this is a great time of year to start doing this.

Many of us are too busy working at earning a living to actually take time out for living fully. What would you choose to do in your life if you could do absolutely anything with no limitations, no prospect of failure and no accountability to anyone?  Individuals usually answer this innocent question with a long list of what they want to do.

It seems to be a natural reaction, eventually with a lot of soul searching people will admit to themselves, and often this is for the first time, what it is that they really want to do”.

This is a painless procedure that seeks to eliminate limitations, ensure success and allow individuals to take personal responsibility for their own lives. It is amazing how liberated one can feel when they realize that they can and should take control of their own lives. Too many just go with the flow and respond to the pressures of what others think they should do.

This process can change one from ‘victim’ mentality to one of ‘victor’ thinking. And anyone can do it”.

Steps to Stimulate The Subconscious Mind

First: Go into some quiet spot (preferably in bed at night), where you will not be disturbed or interrupted, close your eyes, and repeat aloud, (so you may hear your own words) the written statement of the amount of money you intend to accumulate, the time limit for its accumulation, and a description of the service or merchandise you intend to give in return for the money. As you carry out these instructions, see yourself already in possession of the money.

For Example: Suppose that you intend to accumulate $50,000 by the first January, five years hence, that you intend to give personal services in return for the money, in the capacity of a salesman. Your written statement of your purpose should be similar to following:

By the first day of January, 20--, I will have in my possession $50,000, which will come to me in various amounts from time to time during the interim.”
In return for this money I will give the most efficient service of which I am capable, rendering the fullest possible quantity and the best possible quality of service in the capacity of the salesman of …… (Describe the service or merchandise you intend to sell).
“I believe that I will have this money in my possession. My faith is so strong that I can now see this money before my eyes. I can touch it with my hands. It is now awaiting transfer to me at the time, and in the proportion that I deliver the service I intend to render in return for it. I am awaiting a plan by which to accumulate this money, and I will follow that plan, when it is received.”

Second: Repeat this program night and morning until you can see (in your imagination) the money you intend to accumulate.

Third: Place a written copy of your statement where you can see it night and morning, and read it just before retiring and upon arising until it has been memorized.

Creating The Workshop of the Mind

How did visionaries like Napoleon Hill, Alias Howe, Thomas Edison and Walt Disney become so successful? The technique you’re about to learn will answer that question…

But first, have you ever wondered where brilliant ideas come from? How do the world’s most prolific artists, business people, thinkers and inventors get the inspiration for their ideas, creations and achievements? Was it their upbringing? Are they just really lucky? Were they blessed with a gift most  of us can only dream of? Or is there something else at work?

Back in 1937, personal development pioneer Napoleon Hill published ‘Think And Grow Rich’ a book that would soon go on to become one of the most influential publications of ALL time. The book was packed with techniques and instructions on how to develop a wealth mindset, and achieve successbeyond your wildest dreams. Its contents were so powerful that to this day, ‘Think And Grow Rich’ is widely regarded as a benchmark of all other books of its kind. You’ve probably read it yourself.
But there was one particular technique in the book that shocked readers. It was so controversial, in fact, that Hill himself was initially hesitant to even reveal it at all.
That technique was called…
The Invisible Counselors Visualization Exercise

In the book Hill claimed this was his ultimate technique for sourcing skills, ideas and inspiration.
This is how you do it…

Step 1:
Just before going to sleep at night, close your eyes, and see, in your imagination, a group of people seated with you around a Council Table. Remember, you can invite anyone you like to sit at the Council Table.
And when I say anyone, I mean anyone. They could be in another part of the world. They could be celebrities or famous politicians. They could even be alive or dead. Now, not only do you have the opportunity to sit among those you consider to be great, but you can actually dominate the group, by serving as the Chairman. This is what Hill did.
Step  2:
Have a DEFINITIVE PURPOSE for holding these nightly Council Meetings.
Hill explains his definitive purpose was “to rebuild my own character so it would represent a composite of the characters of my imaginary counselors.” Your Definitive Purpose can be ANYTHING you want to change about yourself or your life. Since all this is going on in your mind, your imagination is the only limit!
Step 3:
Call on the Council Members for the knowledge you wish each to contribute.
  • The idea here is to start a discussion with these people on any topic of your choice. So if you want to discuss leadership, you could invite
  • Abraham Lincoln…
  • If you want to discuss financial success, you could bring in Warren Buffet…
  • If you’re looking for enlightenment, you could always invite Gandhi…
  • If you’re looking  for ideas to grow your business and make your mark on the world, go ahead and call on Richard Branson.
  • And if you need some advice on how to improve your life and relationships… maybe ask Oprah a thing or two.
Hill had originally meant for the Invisible Counselors to be an imaginary exercise. You imagine you’re talking to successful people, and you imagine them giving you advice. Nothing much to it right?
But here’s where it gets really interesting. After a few times of trying out the Imaginary Counselors exercise, Hill found it to be more profound, more REAL than he ever thought possible.
He reported that after a while, each of the characters he imagined actually took on a life of their own. For example, he mentions that Abraham Lincoln was always late and never smiled. Hill even recalled an occasion where two counselors in the boardroom actually got into an argument over a topic that left Hill mystified…
And on numerous occasions, the people he had invited would often give him advice and information that he could never have known by himself.
But how was this possible? If all this was just going on inside Hill’s head, how could he be picturing, hearing and learning things outside of his own comprehension? What was going on here? Was Hill really communicating with these people on some other plane of existence? Or did he just have an overactive imagination?
Before you jump to any conclusions, consider this…
Napoleon Hill was not alone.
For centuries, some of the world’s most successful and influential people have reported experiencing similar inexplicable flashes of inspiration.
Miraculously, he’d wake up from these naps not with a headache, but with dozens of new ideas and inspirations for how to proceed with his research.
Interestingly, Edison has been quoted as saying, “Ideas come from space. It’s hard to believe but it’s true. Ideas come from out of space.”
And then there was Elias Howe, the inventor of the sewing machine. You may not know this, but Elias got the inspiration to create the sewing machine from a dream. Here’s how he explains the dream…
“I was in Africa and was being chased by wild cannibals. They caught me and placed me in a huge pot. I kept trying to get out but they kept forcing me back in with spears.”
The spears Howe saw in his dream had holes in the tips. It was this bit of information that gave him the idea for the sewing machine needle.
Walt Disney also had his own unusual method of coming up with powerful ideas.
Whenever he had an idea, Disney would run it through a meticulous 3-step process to guarantee his idea always turned out unique, powerful and feasible.
So what was the first step? Did he analyze market conditions? Study the competition? Plan his budget?
No. He would simply close his eyes, and dream.
All these highly successful people have one thing in common…
They had discovered how to tap into a force beyond the confines of their minds, and draw from it infinite amounts of wisdom, inspirational success.

The Seed of Achievement

"Somewhere in your make-up there lies sleeping, the seed of achievement which, if aroused and put into action, would carry you to heights, such as you may never have hoped to attain. Just as a master musician may cause the most beautiful strains of music to pour forth from the strings of a violin so may you arouse the genius which lies asleep in your brain, and cause it to drive upward to whatever goal you may wish to achieve."

-- Napoleon Hill in Think and Grow Rich

Retreat For Summer Miracles

Indians, were told, do it more than any other nation. People with religious beliefs do it once a year. Captions of industry do it less often. You can do it whenever you like.

For centuries, the practise of taking time out to do something different has been recognised as a sure-fire way of recharging your batteries, igniting your enthusiasm and solving problems. In commerce it is sometimes called a sabbatical, others may call it going on retreat.

We could all benefit from this simple procedure. You don’t have to spend a week as a hermit on a mountain top. Just one day will release amazing benefits and the best part is that it doesn’t cost anything”.

Everyone can benefit from this simple change to their routine. When you put a little distance between yourself and your routine challenges or issues, you see them in a different light and from a different perspective. You may even create a few miracles for yourself as a result. These will come as flashes of intuition that can lead you to take the action needed to resolve a problem.

If you look at something say an apple and hold it close to your face so that it is touching your nose, you will see a very small part of it. Hold it at arms length and you will see the whole apple and its texture and colours. Look at it from the other end of the room and you won’t see the detail but, you will see it in the perspective of it's surroundings and in true proportion. It is the same with issues or problems. You add distance and see them from a new angle.

The summer is a great time to do this. Simply set a week day date in your diary right now when you will take off to the countryside, the hills or the beach. Go by car, bike, train or on foot but go to somewhere that you have never been before and where you can be sure of some space alone. Set off early and plan to be out all day. Leave your mobile phone at home and travel light. Then just wander around for the day, thinking of nothing, focusing on the ‘now’ experience.

Many people are amazed at how easy this is. They are ‘off the leash’ and just by being in a different place they find that their thoughts turn to solutions rather than problems and challenges. You create in life what you think about.

So, make that date in your diary now. Look forward to it, keep it without guilt, enjoy it and return refreshed.

If you do the same thing in the same way, you will get the same results. Your one day summer retreat may be the one enjoyable change that you need to create those spectacular ‘miracle’ results that you know you deserve”.

Overcoming Negative Thought

Negative thinking appears to be more prevalent than positive thinking. It seems that with most people, positive thinking requires some effort, whereas, negative thinking comes easily and often uninvited. This has much to do with education and the environment one has been living in.
If you have been brought up in a happy and positive atmosphere, there is more probability that it will be easier for you to think positively. However, If you have been brought up under poor or difficult situations, you will more probably be attracted to negative thinking.
You view the world through your predominant mental attitude. If your thoughts are positive, that is fine, but if they are negative, your life and circumstances would probably mirror these thoughts.
If you believe that you are going to fail, you will unconsciously sabotage every opportunity to succeed. If you are afraid of meeting new people or having close relationships, you will do everything to avoid people and relationships, and then complain that you are lonely and nobody loves you.

The power of negative thinking in action

  • Do you often think about difficulties, failure and disasters?
  • Do you keep thinking about the negative news see and hear on the TV, or read in the newspapers?
  • Do you see yourself stuck and unable to improve your life or your health?
  • Do you frequently think that you do not deserve happiness or money, or that it is too difficult to get them?
If you do, then you will close your mind, see no opportunities, and behave and react in such ways, as to repel people and opportunities.
The mind often, doesn't judge or examine thoughts and opinions before accepting them. If what it hears, sees and reads is always negative, it accepts this as a standard.
The media constantly bombards the mind with a lot of information about disasters, catastrophes, wars and other unhappy events. This information sinks into the subconscious mind, and then, manifests as your habitual manner of thinking. By occupying the mind with depressing and pessimistic thoughts you radiate negative energy into the surrounding world, and therefore, create and recreate more negativity, failures and disasters.
The mind is neutral energy. The way you think determines whether the results are positive and beneficial, or negative and harmful. It is the same energy acting in different ways.
The good news is that persistent inner work can change habits of thinking. You must be willing to put energy and time to pursue positive thinking, in order to change your mental attitude.

Faith

VISUALIZATION OF, AND BELIEF IN ATTAINMENT OF DESIRE
The Second Step toward Riches

FAITH is the head chemist of the mind. When FAITH is blended with the vibration of thought, the subconscious mind instantly picks up the vibration, translates it into its spiritual equivalent, and transmits it to Infinite Intelligence, as in the case of prayer.
The emotions of FAITH, LOVE, and SEX are the most powerful of all the major positive emotions. When the three are blended, they have the effect of "coloring" the vibration of thought in such a way that it instantly reaches the subconscious mind, where it is changed into its spiritual equivalent, the only form that induces a response from Infinite Intelligence.
Love and faith are psychic; related to the spiritual side of man. Sex is purely biological, and related only to the physical. The mixing, or blending, of these three emotions has the effect of opening a direct line of communication between the finite, thinking mind of man, and Infinite Intelligence.

HOW TO DEVELOP FAITH
There comes, now, a statement which will give a better understanding of the importance the principle of auto-suggestion assumes in the transmutation of desire into its physical, or monetary equivalent;
namely: FAITH is a state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of auto-suggestion.
As an illustration, consider the purpose for which you are, presumably, reading this book. The object is, naturally, to acquire the ability to transmute the intangible thought impulse of DESIRE into its physical counterpart, money. By following the instructions laid down in the chapters on auto-suggestion, and the subconscious mind, as summarized in the chapter on auto-suggestion, you may CONVINCE the subconscious mind that you believe you will receive that for which you ask, and it will act upon that belief, which your subconscious mind passes back to you in the form of "FAITH," followed by definite plans for procuring that which you desire.
The method by which one develops FAITH, where it does not already exist, is extremely difficult to describe, almost as difficult, in fact, as it would be to describe the color of red to a blind man who has never seen color, and has nothing with which to compare what you describe to him. Faith is a state of mind which you may develop at will, after you have mastered the thirteen principles, because it is a state of mind which develops voluntarily, through application and use of these principles.
Repetition of affirmation of orders to your subconscious mind is the only known method of voluntary development of the emotion of faith.
Perhaps the meaning may be made clearer through the following explanation as to the way men sometimes become criminals. Stated in the words of a famous criminologist, "When men first come into contact with crime, they abhor it. If they remain in contact with crime for a time, they become accustomed to it, and endure it. If they remain in contact with it long enough, they finally embrace it, and become influenced by it."
This is the equivalent of saying that any impulse of thought which is repeatedly passed on to the subconscious mind is, finally, accepted and acted upon by the subconscious mind, which proceeds to translate that impulse into its physical equivalent, by the most practical procedure available.
In connection with this, consider again the statement, ALL THOUGHTS WHICH HAVE BEEN EMOTIONALIZED, (given feeling) AND MIXED WITH FAITH, begin immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent or counterpart.
The emotions, or the "feeling" portion of thoughts, are the factors which give thoughts vitality, life, and action. The emotions of Faith, Love, and Sex, when mixed with any thought impulse, give it greater action than any of these emotions can do singly.
Not only thought impulses which have been mixed with FAITH, but those which have been mixed with any of the positive emotions, or any of the negative emotions, may reach, and influence the subconscious mind.
From this statement, you will understand that the subconscious mind will translate into its physical
equivalent, a thought impulse of a negative or destructive nature, just as readily as it will act upon thought impulses of a positive or constructive nature. This accounts for the strange phenomenon which so many millions of people experience, referred to as "misfortune," or "bad luck."
There are millions of people who BELIEVE themselves "doomed" to poverty and failure, because of some strange force over which they BELIEVE they have no control. They are the creators of their own "misfortunes," because of this negative BELIEF, which is picked up by the subconscious mind, and translated into its physical equivalent.
This is an appropriate place at which to suggest again that you may benefit, by passing on to your subconscious mind, any DESIRE which you wish translated into its physical, or monetary equivalent, in a state of expectancy or BELIEF that the transmutation will actually take place. Your BELIEF, or FAITH, is the element which determines the action of your subconscious mind. There is nothing to hinder you from "deceiving" your subconscious mind when giving it instructions through autosuggestion, as I deceived my son's subconscious mind.
To make this "deceit" more realistic, conduct yourself just as you would, if you were ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MATERIAL THING WHICH YOU ARE DEMANDING, when you call upon your subconscious mind.
The subconscious mind will transmute into its physical equivalent, by the most direct and practical media available, any order which is given to it in a state of BELIEF, or FAITH that the order will be carried out.
Surely, enough has been stated to give a starting point from which one may, through experiment and practice, acquire the ability to mix FAITH with any order given to the subconscious mind. Perfection will come through practice. It cannot come by merely reading instructions.
If it be true that one may become a criminal by association with crime, (and this is a known fact), it is equally true that one may develop faith by voluntarily suggesting to the subconscious mind that one has faith. The mind comes, finally, to take on the nature of the influences which dominate it. Understand this truth, and you will know why it is essential for you to encourage the positive emotions as dominating forces of your mind, and discourage--and eliminate negative emotions.
A mind dominated by positive emotions, becomes a favorable abode for the state of mind known as faith. A mind so dominated may, at will, give the subconscious mind instructions, which it will accept and act upon immediately.

FAITH IS A STATE OF MIND WHICH MAY BE INDUCED BY AUTO-SUGGESTION
All down the ages, the religionists have admonished struggling humanity to "have faith" in this, that, and the other dogma or creed, but they have failed to tell people HOW to have faith. They have not stated that "faith is a state of mind, and that it may be induced by self-suggestion."
In language which any normal human being can understand, we will describe all that is known about the principle through which FAITH may be developed, where it does not already exist.

Have Faith in yourself; Faith in the Infinite. Before we begin, you should be reminded again that:
FAITH is the "eternal elixir" which gives life, power, and action to the impulse of thought!
The foregoing sentence is worth reading a second time, and a third, and a fourth. It is worth reading aloud!
FAITH is the starting point of all accumulation of riches!
FAITH is the basis of all "miracles," and all mysteries which cannot be analyzed by the rules of science!
FAITH is the only known antidote for FAILURE!
FAITH is the element, the "chemical" which, when mixed with prayer, gives one direct communication with Infinite Intelligence.
FAITH is the element which transforms the ordinary vibration of thought, created by the finite mind of man, into the spiritual equivalent.
FAITH is the only agency through which the cosmic force of Infinite Intelligence can be harnessed and used by man.
EVERY ONE OF THE FOREGOING STATEMENTS IS CAPABLE OF PROOF!
The proof is simple and easily demonstrated. It is wrapped up in the principle of auto-suggestion. Let us center our attention, therefore, upon the subject of self-suggestion, and find out what it is, and what it is capable of achieving.
It is a well known fact that one comes, finally, to BELIEVE whatever one repeats to one's self, whether the statement be true or false. If a man repeats a lie over and over, he will eventually accept the lie as truth. Moreover, he will BELIEVE it to be the truth. Every man is what he is, because of the DOMINATING THOUGHTS which he permits to occupy his mind. Thoughts which a man deliberately places in his own mind, and encourages with sympathy, and with which he mixes any one or more of the emotions, constitute the motivating forces, which direct and control his every movement, act, and deed!
Comes, now, a very significant statement of truth:
THOUGHTS WHICH ARE MIXED WITH ANY OF THE FEELINGS OF EMOTIONS, CONSTITUTE A "MAGNETIC" FORCE WHICH ATTRACTS, FROM THE VIBRATIONS OF THE ETHER, OTHER SIMILAR, OR RELATED THOUGHTS. A thought thus "magnetized" with emotion may be compared to a seed which, when planted in fertile soil, germinates, grows, and multiplies itself over and over again, until that which was originally one small seed, becomes countless millions of seeds of the SAME BRAND!
The ether is a great cosmic mass of eternal forces of vibration. It is made up of both destructive vibrations and constructive vibrations. It carries, at all times, vibrations of fear, poverty, disease, failure, misery; and vibrations of prosperity, health, success, and happiness, just as surely as it carries the sound of hundreds of orchestrations of music, and hundreds of human voices, all of which maintain their own individuality, and means of identification, through the medium of radio.
From the great storehouse of the ether, the human mind is constantly attracting vibrations which harmonize with that which DOMINATES the human mind. Any thought, idea, plan, or purpose which one holds in one's mind attracts, from the vibrations of the ether, a host of its relatives, adds these "relatives" to its own force, and grows until it becomes the dominating, MOTIVATING MASTER of the individual in whose mind it has been housed.
Now, let us go back to the starting point, and become informed as to how the original seed of an idea, plan, or purpose may be planted in the mind. The information is easily conveyed: any idea, plan, or purpose may be placed in the mind through repetition of thought. This is why you are asked to write out a statement of your major purpose, or Definite Chief Aim, commit it to memory, and repeat it, in audible words, day after day, until these vibrations of sound have reached your subconscious mind.
We are what we are, because of the vibrations of thought which we pick up and register, through the stimuli of our daily environment.
Resolve to throw off the influences of any unfortunate environment, and to build your own life to ORDER. Taking inventory of mental assets and liabilities, you will discover that your greatest weakness is lack of self-confidence. This handicap can be surmounted, and timidity translated into courage, through the aid of the principle of autosuggestion. The application of this principle may be made through a simple arrangement of positive thought impulses stated in writing, memorized, and repeated, until they become a part of the working equipment of the subconscious faculty of your mind.

Creative Visualisation

Creative visualization is the fundamental technique underlying reality creation. It is the process of using your thought power to consciously imagine, create and attract to yourself that which you intend to experience in your life. Mastering creative visualization grants you direct control over your thoughts at the subconscious level. While there are several ways to programme the subconscious mind, visualization is the most effective and its results the most rapid.
The visualization techniques outlined here will enable you to harness the creative power of your thoughts to change your circumstances and consciously choose the life you create. There are five basic steps to visualizing your intentions for reality creation: Relax - Imagine - Feel - Believe - Detach. Click on each step to learn more.
Step 1 – Relax: The first step is to relax your body and empty your mind. Find a comfortable seat, sit upright, breathe deeply and steadily, count down slowly from 25 to 1 while relaxing all your muscle groups from head to toe. Empty your mind by focusing on your breathing.
Step 2 - Imagine:  The second step in the creative visualization process is learning to imagine your intended outcome. Your imagination is the engine of your thoughts. It converts your thought power into mental images. Imagine your ideal reality in the present moment, bring your pictures to life as if watching a movie, concentrate your thoughts with laser like precision and indulge all your senses.
Step 3 - Feel: The third step is to really feel what it would feel like if you already had that which you have mentally chosen in the present physical moment. Where imagination is the engine of your thoughts, your feelings are the fuel. Your e-motions are energy in motion - they bring your images to life.
Step 4 – Believe: The fourth step is to believe that you already have your mental intentions in the present moment. The words of Jesus Christ were clear on this in Mark 11:24, "What things soever you ask for when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them". This is not about wishful thinking or lying to yourself. It is about knowing the scientific truth behind reality creation and having the kind of faith that is the "evidence of things not seen".

Step 5 – Detach; The fifth and final step in the creative visualization process cannot be emphasized enough - detachment. Detach yourself from the outcome you intend to see manifest in your life. Whenever you are attached to someone or something, you effectively strip yourself of your authentic power to consciously create the life you choose. You cannot be grateful or feel unconditional love or enjoy peace of mind when you are attached to the unfolding of a specific outcome, so detach, detach, detach.

Practice is Key:  You must practice, practice, practice. Set aside a time each day for your creative visualizations, preferably once in the morning upon waking and once in the evening before you go to sleep. Both these times are ideal as your mind is already in a semi-relaxed state. Once you have mastered this simple five step process, you will see your life transforming in miraculous ways.

Getting On With It:  Once you have completed the process, get on with the rest of your day. To bring yourself back to a normal waking state, simply continue to breathe deeply and rhythmically and count up from 1 to 5 consciously waking yourself from the relaxed state and slowly opening your eyes. Alternatively, if you are visualizing while in bed, you can allow yourself to drift off to sleep although it is perferable that you do not.

Leave the How up to the Universe: The focus of your visualizations must be on the outcome, not the process. Once you accept the truth about your thought power and that you are one with the One Universal Mind, you will be able to release any need to control the process. Instructing the all-knowing Universe "how" you want things to come about is telling Omniscience that you know better.
